Tennessee Prison Outreach Ministry

Tennessee Prison Outreach Ministry (TPOM) serves men and women who are incarcerated, juveniles who are incarcerated, and the children of the incarcerated. Their programs provide those impacted by incarceration with the practical economic and educational support needed to begin again and live a full, productive life after prison. At the same time, TPOM's services also address each program participants' mental health and deeper spiritual needs, restoring their faith and giving them the tools necessary for long-term recovery. This holistic approach, break the cycle of generational incarceration and provide hope to the forgotten. They have two Residential transitional homes for released incarcerated people. They also prepare returning citizens for successful employment. Their reentry center offers job readiness, educational, and vocational courses. With over 300 contacts of employers, they provide job placement. 90% of their members secure a job within ten days. Their participant's average starting salary is $15.50. Individual, marital, and family counseling is also available to all of the residents and their families. They also help obtain proper identification and clothing, establish bank accounts, and receive needed medical and dental care. They offer Sunday worship services at multiple correctional facilities across Tennessee. NewLife Behavior courses include parenting, substance abuse, attitudes, anger management, money management and many others within prisons. They offer educational resources and assistance, one-on-one mentoring, worship services, and more to juveniles detained juvenile detention centers across Tennessee and offer a camp each summer for children ages 8-17 with incarcerated parents called Camp C.O.P.E. They provide free backpacks full of school supplies each summer for children preparing to go back to school in the fall and parties for incarcerated mothers and their children, including Christmas gifts for the parents to give to their children.
