Virginia DOC Community Corrections Alternative Program (CCAP)

Community Corrections Alternative Program (CCAP) is a sentencing option started by the Virginia Department of Corrections Community Corrections for those convicted of non-violent crimes, emphasizing re-entry and transitional services. The services provided by CCAP are Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Substance Abuse Programming, Anger Management, GED Preparation and Testing, Computer Literacy Class, Ready to Work Program, Employment Opportunity, Vocational Training to include welding, ServSafe, and masonry, Veteran Services, Drug Screening and Re-entry Planning. Participants must be on supervision for the duration of the program, if accepted. After successfully completing the program, they also have a recommended period of intensive supervision followed by at least one year of regular supervision. The CCAP Referral Unit works in collaboration with its mental health and health services staff to assess participants' suitability for CCAP on a case by case basis. Based on the participant's risks and needs, the CCAP Referral Unit will identify whether CCAP acceptance or alternative programming within the community will provide the best opportunity for re-entry. CCAP program length is based upon the probationer/parolee's needs. It typically is 22-48 weeks. For further information, please contact the CCAP.
