Volunteers of America Chesapeake & Carolinas’ Residential Re-entry Center Program

Volunteers of America Chesapeake & Carolinas is a faith-based, nonprofit organization whose mission is to empower self-reliance and inspire hope. As a church without walls, they do this through personalized housing, ministry, health, and human services that benefit vulnerable individuals, their families and the community. Their Residential Re-entry Center (RRC) program has provided the structured and community-based support returning citizens need to transition back into society effectively. The program is designed to reduce the recidivism rate by providing temporary housing and person-centered services to adult men and women referred by the Federal Bureau of Prisons and U.S. Pretrial Services. As the only Federal re-entry facility in the state of Maryland, the RRC serves over 600 men and women yearly. The Federal Bureau of Prisons and U.S. Pretrial Services refer all their program participants. In addition, RRC provides and offers the following services: Comprehensive Case Management, Substance Abuse Education, Employment Readiness and Job Search assistance, Education/Vocational Training assistance and placement, Cognitive Behavioral Programs and Interventions, Community services referrals for medical, housing, substance abuse, mental health and sex offender treatment.
