Western Kentucky Reentry Council

The Western Kentucky Reentry Council is a local meeting group for Kentucky Reentry. It is made up of the Pennyrile Area Development District (Livingston, Crittenden, Lyon, Caldwell, Hopkins, Muhlenberg, Trigg, Christian, and Todd counties) and the Purchase Area Development District (Ballard, Carlisle, Hickman, Fulton, McCracken, Graves, Marshall, and Calloway counties). Various programs are used to assist formerly incarcerated people in the reentry process, including pre-release programs, drug rehabilitation and vocational training, and work programs. Reentry programming, which often involves a comprehensive case management approach, is intended to assist prisoners in acquiring the life skills needed to succeed in the community and become law-abiding citizens. This council is an initiative by the Kentucky Department of Corrections, Division of Reentry Services. Their mission is to improve involvement within the criminal justice system by creating individualized reentry plans and empowering individuals with resources, support and programming, to promote successful reintegration into the community. In addition, the division works with the justice-involved population to enhance communities by aiding in the transition of the individuals becoming pro-social members of society.
