Esther’s Haven House, Inc. (EHH) is a social service organization whose mission is to provide a safe place for victims of domestic violence, persons with HIV/AIDS, breast cancer, homelessness, social services, transitional housing, re-entry services to women coming out of prison to include transportation assistance, education assistance, drugs, alcohol recovery and job placement. Their shelter locations in New Orleans, Louisiana, and Houston, Texas, provide transitional housing, food, and clothing for immediate concerns, as well as job training and mentoring programs to help people become independent. Through their transitional housing programs, EHH ensures that everyone has a place to stay, something to eat, and proper clothing. In addition, they help them find a job, by giving them the skills they need to be successful. EHH also provides counseling service that helps with life skills, job skills, and mentoring. Transportation and educational services and drug and alcohol recovery programs are available. Most of their residents are coming out of prison who cannot read or write, and some have a hard time learning. Domestic violence victims who were also in a controlled environment are served by providing support and care through their programs.
