OpportUNITY
OpportUNITY supports returning citizens and allows them to turn around their life, avoid future victims, repair a family, and support a community. They aim to reduce poverty for everyone and improve living conditions for all central Iowans. The re-entry workgroup at OpportUNITY helps formerly incarcerated prisoners facing challenges at every level. A person may successfully re-enter society by meeting six basic life needs: livelihood, residence, family, health, criminal justice compliance, and social connections. Attaining each of these basic life needs presents unique challenges, many of which are interconnected. To ensure that returning citizens have a successful transition back to the community, the re-entry workgroup addresses multiple needs, including housing, employment, mental health services, access to government assistance and community-based organizational involvement and support. Apart from re-entry services, the organization's workgroups also provide services related to food insecurity, child care, housing, adult ed & employment, education and transportation for the citizens of Iowa. If you require further information, kindly contact OpportUNITY.
