Lexington Rescue Mission
Description
The Lexington Rescue Mission is a faith-based ministry that meets the physical, emotional and spiritual needs of hurting people in the greater Lexington area. Their Breaking Chains program provides training and support to assist incarcerated men and women in making a smooth transition back into the community. They offer classes to those currently incarcerated at the Fayette County Detention Center, Jessamine County Detention Center, Woodford County Detention Center, Northpoint Training Center, and Blackburn Correctional Complex. The Genesis Process addresses the struggle to change. The process identifies the fears that drive self-destructive behaviors and emotions and helps resolve them so you can find true and lasting freedom. Jobs for Life helps men and women develop the job skills and character qualities that prepare them for success on the job upon their release. Moreover, case managers meet with them on release to help them develop a transition plan back into the community and provide accountability and support to help them achieve their goals. They also assist with practical needs—obtaining birth certificates and IDs, transportation, clothing, housing, employment, and other necessities. In addition, they assist families who have a loved one who is currently or formerly incarcerated by educating them about the justice system and helping each other through the challenges of re-entry.
