Pilot Program in Pre-release Prisoner Re-Entry Mediation
Description
Pilot Program in Pre-release Prisoner Re-Entry Mediation is sponsored by the Massachusetts Office of Public Collaboration. The goal of the program is to set participants up for successful reentry by developing the skills necessary to reintegrate and learning how to access the many social service programs that exist to support them. One of the most important factors in returning to the community is a reentry plan, as this alleviates the stress associated with the unknown. Participants in the program are more likely to understand the numerous barriers that individuals with criminal convictions face, as well as how to work within the support systems they have to minimize the impact of those barriers. Additionally, preparing for release provides an opportunity for individuals to request referrals to specific treatment and residential programs that will best serve their needs.
