Tribal Defenders Office

The Tribal Defenders Office provides legal representation to Indian criminal defendants that are enrolled members of any federally recognized tribe in the Tribal Court. Alongside their holistic and client centered public defense services, the Tribal Defenders Office also works to address the issues that lead clients into the criminal justice system, and the consequences of criminal charges by offering jail alternatives. Program services provided include community outreach, driver's license restoration, referrals to other community resources as needed, cultural mentorship, and individualized case management services. On a case by case basis, the Tribal Defenders Office may also provide legal services to CS&MY members needing assistance obtaining legal forms and representation in civil disputes. Legal services are provided for those that financially qualify according to guides set by Tribal Council. Contact the Tribal Defenders Office directly for answers to any questions, additional eligibility requirements, and more information on their programs and services.
