The Providence Center is a community organization dedicated to supporting adults and children with mental health and substance abuse disorders. In addition to the many support programs and services offered at the center, the organization facilitates a treatment program for currently incarcerated individuals. Currently, this program operates at Rhode Island Adult Correctional Institute and is available to individuals recovering from substance abuse disorder. while serving out their sentences. Their Addiction Treatment and Recovery Services program assists inmates as they acquire new skills and behaviors that facilitate their recovery from substance abuse and sets them on a path to permanently disrupt the cycle of incarceration. Services are designed lower recidivism and relapse rates, and to offer the supports currently incarcerated individuals need to make permanent changes in their lives.
