Opening Doors for Women In Need

Opening Doors for Women In Need

Description

Opening Doors for Women In Need (ODWIN) helps women overcome the many obstacles and barriers when released from prison. They also provide specific programs for men, except housing, through Change A Life! The Nehemiah Project, a subdivision of ODWIN. ODWIN's "Change A Life! Nehemiah Project" provides job readiness training for men and women in retail sales, small business management, office administration, and accounting. The project also offers job placement assistance, mentoring & spiritual support and a computer lab and workshop. In addition, ODWIN's reentry program helps women navigate successfully through the integration process of returning from incarceration. First, they offer a safe, clean housing facility geared to help prevent women from returning to an environment that may contribute to further criminal behavior. Next, they provide support systems that allow the women physically and spiritually. ODWIN also provides a structure for sound recovery and relapse prevention by providing study material, OVERCOMERS meetings, group Bible study, individual counseling support and spiritual counseling.
