Cornerstone Assistance Network

Description

Cornerstone Assistance Network is a community based nonprofit serving individuals and families struggling with poverty in Tarrant County, Texas. They provide primary and preventive health and dental care for the uninsured in Tarrant County. Through the New Life Center, Cornerstone offers housing for people who have previously experienced homelessness and assists in pursuing an educational degree or certification with a stable residence. Cornerstone's Reentry Services are a part of the recovery and restorative programs offered to incarcerated people and returning citizens. In collaboration with Tarrant County, Cornerstone operates the Reentry 1st Stop. Located in the Resource Connection Campus, the 1st Stop provides an orientation class and one-on-one navigation sessions for individuals with a criminal background. Additionally, detailed information is recorded and processed by the county to determine recidivism rates - the number of individuals who return to jail within a year of their release. These research-based statistics show an average significantly below local and national standards.
