Missouri Department of Correction’s Transitional Housing Units

Missouri Department of Correction’s Transitional Housing Units

Description

Missouri Department of Correction's Transitional Housing Units provide support and targeted services to individuals nearing release. Currently incarcerated individuals are eligible to enter these units within the last six months of their sentence. Residents of the program have access to a number of supports and services, including: academic and vocational education, obtaining proper identification and paperwork, cognitive restructuring, mental health, medical and substance abuse treatment with continuity of care into the community, education on faith-based support, employability and life skills training, employment services, child support information, education on strengthening family relationships and pro-social community participation, and impact of crime on victims classes. The Department of Corrections hopes that these services and a structured residential setting will help ease transitions back into the community and set participants up to permanently reintegrate. For more information about eligibility or participation in the program, contact the Department of Corrections or your local corrections facility.
