The Vanderburg County Public Defender's Office is located in Evansville, Indiana. With one Chief Public Defender, two Paralegals and supporting staff, they provide experienced legal representation to all persons entitled to indigent representation as determined by a Court. The Public Defender's Office handles cases in the Circuit and Superior Court Felony Divisions, Misdemeanor Court, Juvenile Court and all criminal appeals. In addition, Attorneys employed by the Agency handle termination of parental rights cases, children in need of services cases and mental health commitments. The Sixth Amendment to the U.S. Constitution guarantees the rights of criminal defendants, including the right to a public trial without unnecessary delay and the right to a lawyer.
