Description
The Maricopa County Human Services Department (HSD) provides a wide array of services in Maricopa County for vulnerable populations and persons with barriers, including low-income families, persons seeking employment opportunities, and communities in need. Maricopa County HSD's mission is to provide regional leadership and fiscally responsible, necessary public services so that residents can enjoy living in a healthy and safe environment. The Board of Supervisors, along with other elected officers, creates a strategic plan every five years to align with the county mission. The services that Maricopa County HSD provide leadership countywide and foster major system regional collaborations and partnerships to improve access to coordinated and comprehensive human services. Some of these services include discount programs, utility and rental assistance, and basic referral needs. Maricopa County HSD also focuses on the treatment of mental health and substance abuse, opioid addiction, and alcoholism.
