Free To Succeed
Description
The mission at Free to Succeed is to enable incarcerated individuals at San Quentin to reach self-sufficiency through literacy. Volunteers work directly with incarcerated people to provide instruction on reading and writing in both one-on-one and group settings. Free to Succeed holds workshops and instruction every weekday from 6:00-8:00 pm inside the San Quentin corrections facility. Individuals are eligible to receive general reading and writing support, as well as assistance with specific projects related to literacy. All literacy coaches are community volunteers who believe that literacy offers a concrete path toward rehabilitation and stable living after incarceration. Individuals can contact the program directly for more information or assistance.
