ACLU Delaware

American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) is a group of nonprofit organizations advocating to protect the rights of the people guaranteed by the Constitution of the U.S. The ACLU-DE is located in Wilmington, DE, and works with courts, legislatures and communities to protect the civil liberties and constitutional rights of the people of Delaware. ACLU extends its advocacy for rights to people who have traditionally been denied their rights such as people of color; lesbians, gay men, bisexual and transgender individuals; women; mental-health patients; incarcerated people; and people with disabilities. ACLU-DE works on issues such as Freedom of speech, Government-sponsored religious activities, Interference with the practice of an individual’s religious beliefs, Privacy, Discrimination based on race, gender, sexual orientation or disability, religion, age, national origin, or marital status, Reproductive freedom, Police misconduct, Censorship in schools or libraries, Constitutional and educational rights of students, Fairness in the application of school discipline, Voting rights, Unsafe and inhumane jail and prison conditions. They provide legal assistance on cases involving the above-mentioned issues in Delaware only.
