Aftercare for Indiana through Mentoring (AIM)
Description
Aftercare for Indiana through Mentoring (AIM) is a non-profit organization housed and operated through Indiana University. Volunteers act as mentors for incarcerated young people in the area. During the program, these young people develop connections with their communities and get ready to reenter them after their release from incarceration. Mentors help connect participants to social services in the community at large and assist young people in developing viable post-release plans. The mentor-mentee relationship follows three distinct phases: the facility, the community, and follow-ups. All Aftercare for Indiana mentors are trained and are required to participate in additional trainings quarterly. The mentors meet with their young people for at minimum of one hour each week or two hours every other week. For more information about specific services and availability through Aftercare for Indiana through Mentoring, individuals are encouraged to reach out to the organization directly using the information provided on this page.
