Arizonans for Transparency and Accountability in Corrections focuses on conducting research, analysis and reports, public-awareness campaigns, community organizing, and legislative outreach. The mission of ATAC is to restore public trust in the Arizona Department of Corrections, Rehabilitation and Reentry through the formation and implementation of a citizens’ oversight and advisory committee and corrections ombuds in the legislative and executive branches of the Arizona government. They aim to create effective and responsive oversight, ensure accurate reporting, and provide a framework to advise the government on improvements in the Arizona Department of Corrections, Rehabilitation, and Reentry. Through legislation, government, organizing, and public efforts they are working to enact change within the legal system.
