Big Brothers Big Sisters Of New Hampshire

Big Brothers Big Sisters Of New Hampshire's (BBBSNH) mission is to create and support one-to-one mentoring relationships that ignite the power and promise of youth. They offer programs and services that promote positive change in children identified as being a risk of personal or socially destructive behavior because of death, divorce, separation, poverty or family dysfunction. They serve children by creating, fostering and supporting one-to-one relationships between youth facing adversity and caring volunteer adult mentors. Their site-based program includes mentoring at schools and after-school programs. They offer a unique mentoring experience- children visit a company office or workplace twice a month to meet with employee Bigs for group and one-to-one activities. They partner with law enforcement, fire, and ambulance departments in the state, the Bigs in Badges are matched in community-based or site-based settings with Littles in their communities. Through their P.R.I.S.M program, they connect LGBTQ+ youth with caring adult mentors, who can relate to their experiences, provides a supportive outlet that can help change those odds. In their Trauma-informed mentoring practices program, they pair college mentors from behavioral health and sciences programs with children who have suffered trauma. It offers an extra layer of support to youth. Their Mentor 2.0 is a technology-enhanced, one-on-one mentoring program that provides transformative support for low-income and first-generation high school students. Mentors are matched with high school students and, through weekly online communication and monthly in-person meetings, work with them within a curriculum that builds skills for college and career success.
