Centerstone's Criminal Justice Program works to establish a strong and sustainable connection between the criminal justice system and the mental health system. Staff focus on support services to assist individuals who are at increased risk of incarceration due to mental health conditions and/or a history of substance abuse. They are funded by two grants, the Criminal Justice Liaison Grant and the TN Recovery Oriented Compliance Strategy Grant. These grants enable staff to provide intensive outpatient services, reintegration efforts, and treatment services so that individuals have the best chance at permanently reentering the community and breaking the cycle of recidivism. Centerstone's Criminal Justice Program specifically targets the underlying behaviors and conditions that lead to chronic incarceration, emphasizing a treatment forward philosophy that works to rehabilitate individuals rather than push them back into the justice system.
