Chicago Coalition for the Homeless Reentry Project

Chicago Coalition for the Homeless Reentry Project

Description

Chicago Coalition for the Homeless Reentry Project operates as a strong advocate for new legislation to support justice involved individuals. They understand the unique connection between incarceration and homelessness, as well as how homelessness perpetuates recidivism. To maximize their impact, the Chicago Coalition for the Homeless Reentry Project partners with Restoring Rights and Opportunities Coalition of Illinois (RROCI) and collaborates with Cabrini Green Legal Aid Clinic and Community Renewal Society. Together, these three organizations work to improve opportunities for safe, stable housing and advocate for the rights of formerly incarcerated individuals as they reenter the community. Chicago Coalition for the Homeless Reentry Project also spearheaded a housing program which assists approved individuals to enter subsidized housing communities or reunify with family who live in subsidized housing prior to the mandatory five-year waiting period.
