Common Good Atlanta

Common Good Atlanta is a community based organization dedicated to improving access to higher education for currently and formerly incarcerated individuals. Common Good Atlanta pursues this mission by connecting Georgia’s colleges and professors with Georgia’s prison classrooms. Staff and volunteers believe that broad, democratic access to higher education for individuals affected by incarceration works toward the common good of the community. The organization provides a range of college-level courses for all students and alumni. Students have the change to shape their own education in terms of identifying the types of classes they take and whether or not they hope to gain college accreditation through their coursework. Their classes focus on the disciplines of literature, writing, history, art, science, math and philosophy. Justice involved individuals can partner with Common Good Atlanta to prepare for sustainable careers after incarceration. For more information about specific services, individuals should contact the organization directly using the information on this page.
