Community Mediation Services (CMS)

Community Mediation Services, or CMS, is a nonprofit mediation center in Anderson County, Tennessee helping people find solutions to their issues. CMS currently provides four mediation programs to assist people in finding their own peaceful solutions to their conflicts. All programs are provided free of charge and are mediated by trained volunteers. The mediators act as neutral facilitators to assist the parties in reaching their own decisions. The Victim Offender Reconciliation Program (VORP) allows the youth of a non-violent, first-time offense to meet with the victim of their crime. The goal is to discuss the crime and its effects and to decide on a way for the teen to make things right. Directed to CMS by the Juvenile Judge or Child Support Court, the Visitation Mediation Program helps never-married, post-divorce parents or relative caregivers finalize or revise a parenting plan. Other mediation programs include teen and parent mediation, as well as the attendance mediation program.
