Alabama Department of Mental Health (ADMH) serves more than 200,000 Alabama citizens with mental illnesses, developmental disabilities, and substance use disorders. Its mission is to serve, empower, support, and promote the health and well-being of Alabamians. The Alabama Department of Mental Health also provides substance abuse and mental health treatment at the Perry County Probation and Parole Reentry Education Program (PREP Center). The PREP Center provides reentry and rehabilitation services for probationers and parolees. By encouraging incarceration diversion as a sanction response and an option for justice-involved individuals to receive support services and resolve barriers to successful reintegration. The ADMH treatment coordinator provides mental health assistance, individual counseling, and referrals for in-patient mental illness per assessed need. The treatment coordinator also prepares an aftercare plan to continue care upon release. ADMH also offers rights protection & advocacy for persons in state facilities.
