Contra Costa County, CA Public Defender’s Main Office

The Contra Costa Public Defenders (CCPD) provides constitutionally mandated representation to indigent individuals charged in adult and juvenile criminal court in Contra Costa County. Contra Costa County is located in the Bay Area, extending from the San Francisco Bay to the western edge of California’s Central Valley. The county seat, Martinez, is located 30 miles east of San Francisco. It is surrounded by water and regional open space preserves, downtown Martinez has a number of preserved historic buildings and antique shops. The Public Defender's Office is dedicated to providing vigorous, client-centered advocacy to indigent persons accused of crimes in Contra Costa County. CCPD has developed a number of specialty areas that address issues that their clients face related to their criminal cases. CCPD is recognized throughout the state for providing vigorous advocacy and holistic, client-centered representation. Their offices are located in Martinez and Richmond. CCPD does not represent individuals in traffic, civil and family law cases, unless they are referred for possible contempt of court charges.
