Corcraft is a workforce program developed in partnership with the New York State Department of Corrections and Community Supervision. The mission of Corcraft is to begin workforce development inside corrections facilities, providing essential job training and work experience to incarcerated individuals while creating consumer products for the public. The organization receives funding the Department of Corrections and Community Supervision and channels all profit from manufacturing back into the department budget. All of Corcraft products are manufactured inside correctional facilities across the state of New York, providing incarcerated individuals at thirteen state prisons with opportunities to participate in workforce programming. Participants of the program learn more than how to create products, though. Corcraft also instills important life skills and develops mindsets related to personal responsibility, two essential elements in maintaining employment outside the corrections system.
