Section Title

Correctional Education UNC – Chapel Hill

The Correctional Education program at the University of North Carolina (UNC) at Chapel Hill provides professional education classes and enrichment opportunities for exceptional UNC academics, staff, alums, and community professionals. It also prepares for future opportunities by completing college credit courses. Formerly incarcerated people can access various educational programs because of a collaboration between the North Carolina Department of Public Safety and UNC-Chapel Hill. The Correctional Education Program is only open to incarcerated people in North Carolina's prison system. The program also provides academic advising to incarcerated people and their advocates, assisting with course selection and degree path. In addition, UNC's Correctional Education program serves adult learners through classroom-based and online credit programs for part-time students, noncredit professional development and enrichment activities, and an educational conference center. To confirm eligibility for the Custodial Education Program, receive an Outreach Program registration form, and arrange final exams, interested individuals should contact the program or education staff member at their correctional facility, preferably their case manager.
