CrossWalk Center, Inc.
Description
CrossWalk Center (CWC) is a community based organization providing social and reentry services to people returning from prisons. This organization offers Reentry Coaching, a teaching session focused on important issues relating to an individual’s successful and sustainable reentry. CrossWalk Center’s Seamless Re-entry Discipleship model includes three reentry phases: Upstream, Midstream and Downstream. The Upstream phase consists of a 40-week character development and reentry discipleship program for individuals within two years of parole eligibility. This program is offered within Texas DOC Prisons and State jails. Next, the Midstream phase starts with a meeting with the Crosswalk Center team upon release. Individuals are then provided transportation to a hub, first meal, clothing, orientation, and transportation to the Texas Department of Criminal Justice (TDCJ). Lastly, the Downstream phase includes one-on-one coaching after release for a minimum of six months. Individuals begin transitional jobs within 14 to 30 days after release. Also, they undergo nationally endorsed skill training certifications through Houston Community College System.
