Delaware Mentor Program

The Delaware Mentor Program provides justice-impacted women with the skills necessary to accomplish a positive change in attitude that will provide them with the mindset to succeed in life. Their main service, the Pre-Release Class (PRC) program, is facilitated in the Baylor Women's Correctional Institution. PRC is a 12-week program consisting of 48 to 52 workshops, in which the participants are taught the skills necessary to deal with everyday life in the community. This wide variety of workshops ranges from topics like gambling addictions, anger management, and domestic violence to self-esteem, public speaking, and financial workshops. The workshops are conducted by dedicated volunteers, as well as a Program Coordinator and Re-Entry Coordinator.

The Delaware Mentor Program believes that every female offender is capable of positive change and personal growth. The program seeks to assist women in restructuring their lives by preparing them to become responsible adults prior to release, and upon re-entry, provide them with the resources to continue forward in a positive manner toward independence, personal success, and living productive lives.
