Friendship House Transitional Housing

Friendship House is a community based organization that supports individuals facing barriers to housing insecurity, including criminal records. Their transitional housing program was developed to serve individuals who are in recovery for substance abuse, escaping situations of domestic violence, or returning to the community after incarceration. Their mission is fill the existing gap that prevents people in crisis from accessing safe, stable housing. To date, Friendship House Transitional Housing has provided assistance to more than two thousand men and women. Their houses are located in Wilmington, Delaware; the Epiphany House, Jane House, Patterson House, Palmer I and II Houses, and Elizabeth House all serve women, while the Clark House, Criswell House, Corner House, Daughtry House and Burton House all serve men. Each house centers residents at a particular stage of recovery and reintegration, so residents are always surrounded by others who share their experiences. This fosters community and peer mentorship so that no resident ever feels alone in their struggle.
