Hawaii Office of Youth Services
The Office of Youth Services is a subsidiary of the State of Hawaii Department of Human Services established to support justice involved young people. The office offers and arranges a continuum of services and programs for at risk youth to intervene before they enter the justice system and reduce the rate of recidivism. The Office of Youth Services also strives to offer a clear sense of responsibility and accountably for all youth related services in Hawaii. Although a primary responsibility of the organization is to manage and facilitate the Hawaii Youth Correctional Facility, the agency places great focus on providing and supporting “front end” prevention, diversion, and intervention services. The Office of Youth Services focuses on five target areas to improve the continuum of care that serves youths’ needs from prevention to incarceration and aftercare. These services include: In-Community Services, Residential Services, Hawaii Youth Correctional Facility (HYCF), Training & Technical Assistance, Systems Development, and Community Strengthening.
