Helping Arms
Description
Helping Arms is a nonprofit organization that provides reentry support services to formerly incarcerated individuals in the Trenton, New Jersey area. Since their inception in 1998, Helping Arms has offered counseling, job placement, housing, and other social services to impoverished people. Beginning in 2009, Helping Arms received funding to operate a prison reentry initiative. Helping Arms now works alongside local organizations to offer transitional support services to incarcerated people returning to the Greater Trenton community. Ultimately, their mission is to assist program participants as they reintegrate into society as tax paying, law abiding citizens by offering resources and support tailored to individual needs. Program services include individualized case management, employment opportunities, education support, assistance locating safe housing, computer courses, drug and alcohol addiction treatment, mental health referrals, mentorship, and more. Helping Arm offers this holistic approach to reintegration to ensure that the needs of each client can be accurately identified and met.
