Description
The Office of the Public Defender for Hoke County Defender District 16A, is located in Raeford, North Carolina. The office has a legal team including three Assistant Public Defenders, one Investigator and other support staff. Altogether, they provide legal representation to individuals that are financially unable to retain an attorney without substantial hardship in the Hoke County Courts. This Public Defender's office represents indigent persons accused of misdemeanors and misdemeanor probation violations, felonies from classes E through I and felony probation violations and felonies from classes A through D in the District and Superior Courts. If you ask for court-appointed counsel, you must fill out an affidavit of indigency. The Office of Indigent Defense Services (IDS) oversees the work of Hoke County Public Defenders. In addition, IDS serves both indigent clients and our state's taxpayers by thoughtfully allocating and carefully accounting for the funds provided to it.
