The Huron County Public Defender's Office is located in Norwalk, OH. With one Public Defender and legal supporting staff, this office provides legal representation to indigent clients in Huron County. The roles and responsibilities of the Public Defender's Office are to provide legal representation, consultation, and advice to clients, represent clients through criminal investigative proceedings, create a defense plan, conduct legal investigative research, interview the necessary clients and witnesses, work closely with clients, discuss relevant information and strategies. The Public Defender ensures that every accused citizen, regardless of financial resources, receives zealous and effective representation as mandated by the United States and Ohio Constitutions. Individuals determined to be eligible for court-appointed counsel do not have the right to choose who their attorney will be. However, they do have the right to have competent legal representation.
