The Fourth Judicial District, State Appellate Public Defender's (OSAD) Office is located in Springfield, Illinois. With one Deputy Defender, Staff Attorneys and other support staff, the Fourth Judicial District Office represent indigent persons on appeal in 41 Illinois counties—Adams, Boone, Brown, Calhoun, Carroll, Cass, Ford, Fulton, Greene, Hancock, Henderson, Henry, Jersey, Jo Daviess, Knox, Lee, Livingston, Logan, Macoupin, Marshall, Mason, McDonough, McLean, Menard, Mercer, Morgan, Ogle, Peoria, Pike, Putnam, Rock Island, Sangamon, Schuyler, Scott, Stark, Stephenson, Tazewell, Warren, Whiteside, Winnebago and Woodford counties. The primary function of the Appellate Public Defender's Office is to serve indigent appellants in criminal cases when appointed by the Illinois Supreme Court, the Appellate Court or the Circuit Court. The Office of State Appellate Public Defender is a state agency created by the State Appellate Defender Act. Their central office is located in Springfield, IL.
