Jubilee Home
Description
Jubilee Home is a faith-based nonprofit transitional home for young men returning from incarceration. It collaborates with Durham men to build an environment that bridges the gap between incarceration and complete independence. The organization's objectives are to balance residents' actual social and psychological needs and community spirit, which comes from their belief that everyone has something to offer. Their asset-based approach acknowledges each resident's worth and uniqueness before examining their wants and needs. In addition, the group builds peaceful houses for men (17 years of age or older) involved in the justice system. By providing therapeutic resources, the organization obtains access to a network of services and can give each resident a personalized life-skills curriculum. Jubilee Home does not just operate for the betterment of formerly incarcerated people, but also works to connect the community and its residents so that they can all benefit from one another's gifts.
