The Kaufman County Public Defender's Office in Texas gives greater attention to improving the quality of indigent defense services. This office has a team including Public Defenders, Panel Attorneys and other support staff. Altogether, they provide legal representation to individuals that are financially unable to retain an attorney without substantial hardship in the Kaufman County Courts. This Public Defender's office represents indigent persons accused of misdemeanors, misdemeanor probation violations, and felonies cases. If you ask for court-appointed counsel, you must fill out an affidavit of indigency. The Office of Indigent Defense Services (IDS) oversees the work of Kaufman County Public Defenders.
