The King County Department of Public Defense (DPD) has a divisional office—The Defenders Association, located in Kent, WA. The mission of DPD is to represent indigent adults and children facing a loss of liberty. DPD is an independent voice that promotes justice and equity for its clients and advocates for their objectives, interests, and dignity. The Northwest Defenders provides representation to people who are financially eligible and who are facing certain kinds of criminal and civil proceedings. The DPD has four divisions.
