Description

The Lebanon County, PA Public Defender’s Office primarily represents indigent adult defendants and juveniles with a misdemeanor or felony criminal charges. With one Public Defender, attorneys and other supporting staff, the office is committed to ensuring that all individuals facing criminal charges or a criminal trial have access to quality defense attorneys per their 6th Amendment rights. In addition, it represents clients facing involuntary commitment at mental health hearings, persons charged with violating county and state probation or parole, persons charged with violations of the Protection from Abuse Act (PFA’s), and persons facing summary charges where incarceration is a potential sentence. Attorneys routinely appear on behalf of clients at preliminary hearings before Lebanon County District Justices, before the Court of Common Pleas of Lebanon County, and before the Appellate Courts of Pennsylvania. Individuals determined to be eligible for court-appointed counsel do not have the right to choose who their attorney will be. However, they do have the right to have competent legal representation.
