Legal Aid of Western Ohio
Description
Legal Aid of Western Ohio is an organization established through the Civil Division of the Toledo Legal Aid Society. They are a nonprofit law firm which offers pro bono services to qualifying individuals, including low-income and underserved populations. Attorneys with Legal Aid of Western Ohio offer representation and advice concerning most civil matters, but they are not able to assist individuals seeking assistance with criminal matters or appeals. The focus of the organization is to help protect the rights of those who cannot afford quality representation themselves and to ensure that all individuals have access to equal justice in the court system. Eligible individuals must reside with western or west-central Ohio and meet federal standards for poverty. While some may exceed financial guidelines, Legal Aid of Western Ohio does have dedicated funding to assist individuals with domestic violence issues and senior citizens. In order to request services, all individuals must first apply and participate in an intake interview with Legal Aid. This interview will help determine eligibility criteria and the best route toward resolution.
