Little Light Ministries
Description
Little Light Ministries hopes to break the cycle of intergenerational incarceration by serving the children of incarcerated parents. Their goal is to educate and uplift children with one or more incarcerated parents through an accredited K-6 educational program that celebrates the arts. Little Light School does not charge tuition for accepted families. The academic program is influenced by faith-based approaches, and the school offers free transportation, meals, supplies and clothing. Staff work to break the cycle of incarceration through positive reinforcement, educational advancement and specialized curriculum that addresses the underlying trauma of having one or more parents inside the justice system. Children also go to school with peers who understand the difficulties of having an incarcerated parent. Individuals can contact the school directly for information or to discuss entry.
