Maine Volunteer Lawyers Project
Description
The Maine Volunteer Lawyers Project is a legal services organization that is dedicated to ensuring equal access to legal services for all Maine residents. The mission of the organization is to improve justice by encouraging volunteer legal services from qualified attorneys throughout the state of Maine. Maine Volunteer Lawyers Project serves as a managing arm, putting attorneys interested in volunteering their services in contact with individuals who otherwise cannot afford an attorney. Currently, the organization is only equipped to assist individuals who are facing civil court matters. Those with pending criminal charges are not eligible for volunteer legal services from members of the Maine Volunteer Lawyers Project. All clients receive legal counsel and representation at no cost based on demonstrated financial hardship and eligibility. For more information about specific services or to request an attorney, individuals are encouraged to use the contact information provided on the Maine Volunteer Lawyers Project website.
