Marquette County, MI Public Defender’s Office
Description
The Indigent Defense office in Marquette, MI, provides effective legal representation to residents who cannot afford to pay for private legal counsel in both misdemeanor and felony cases. With one Chief Public Defender, one Senior Public Defender, one Deputy Chief Public Defender, and two public defenders, the office provides constitutionally guaranteed representation to citizens charged with a crime who cannot afford an attorney. Any person accused of a crime in Marquette County can retain their private attorney. However, if they are indigent, the Public Defender's Office will provide representation with the highest level of preparation, legal knowledge, and training possible for that charge. In addition, Marquette County has a Warrant List compiled as often as possible from the 96th District Court and the 25th Circuit Court. The office also has a Mitigation Specialist, a licensed social worker, and has been advocating on behalf of justice-involved individuals. The privilege of offering representation to those in need is why the law has offered public defense services. Don't hesitate to contact the Marquette County Public Defender directly if you need further information.
