Metro Denver Homeless Initiative
Description
Metro Denver Homeless Initiative was founded in the 1990s as a collaborative of organization and resources combating homelessness. They work together with locally-based nonprofits and faith-based resource centers that offer services to those experiencing homelessness, as well as those searching for affordable housing. Metro Denver Homeless Initiative also partners with local and state agencies, community-led support groups, treatment centers and a coalition of community members who have direct experience with homelessness. The combined efforts of more than 70 organizations allows Metro Denver Homeless Initiative to operate a Continuum of Care which serves individuals at every stage of housing emergency. Their mission is to work together with partners to eradicate homelessness in the greater Denver area, and to ensure that all residents have access to safe, sustainable housing. Partners participate in street outreach, coordinate emergency housing, operate transitional housing centers, rehouse individuals quickly and help arrange for permanent sober-living environments for those in need.
