The Metropolitan Public Defender's main office and Adult Division are located in Nashville, TN. With one Chief Public Defender, one Deputy Chief Public Defender, one Assistant Deputy Chief Public Defender, 50 Adult Division Attorneys, two Education Rights Project Attorneys, three Juvenile Division Attorneys, nine Investigators, and other support legal staff, the Metropolitan Public Defender Adult Division Office's mission is to defend the liberty, honor and constitutional rights of the individuals of all ages. Through zealous advocacy, they strive not only to deliver excellence in the representation of each client but also to stand with their clients and the community in working to create a more just, fair and compassionate legal system. Their practice focuses on Criminal Defense cases for Adults and Juveniles. Additionally, their office has the New Americans Project. For this project, they compile resources for public defenders and criminal defense attorneys in Tennessee to become familiar with the intersection of this state's criminal legal system and the federal immigration system.
