Metropolitan Planning Council Re-entry Housing

Metropolitan Planning Council Re-entry Housing

Description

Metropolitan Planning Committee is a nonprofit organization that has been serving the Greater Chicago area for nearly a century. Their mission is to create a more equitable and affordable community for all Chicagoans and reduce barriers to sustainable housing. Their Re-Entry Housing program specifically addresses the difficulties that those with criminal convictions face when working to secure housing after exiting corrections facilities. Staff work to move individuals away from incarceration and toward community living. They understand that one of the most important factors during reentry is access to safe, sustainable living communities that encourage sobriety and personal development. Together with the Illinois Justice Project, the Metropolitan Planning Committee advocates for more effective and reaching policies to support justice involved individuals who find it difficult to maintain housing. Their goal is to make permanent, systemic changes that will benefit individuals for generations. To learn more about their efforts, contact the organization directly.
