New Mexico DOC Corrections Industries is committed to maintaining and improving work training programs for incarcerated individuals. The Corrections Industries Division (CID) is the DOC's enterprise unit; This division is dedicated to continued support for the DOC in their efforts to reduce recidivism. Corrections Industries encourages the development of job skills, instills and promotes strong work ethics, decreases incarceration inactivity, and reduces the tax burden on the department. By allowing state, local, county, tribal, federal, educational, and nonprofit entities to make direct purchases from CID without the need for a competitive bid, Corrections Industries improves the accessibility of purchasing tasks. This one stop shop offers custom designed shirts and uniforms in addition to furniture, moving, printing, and janitorial supplies. Incarcerated individuals working for the CI distribute their wages to the Crime Victims Fund, family and child support, debts they owe, court-ordered restitution, court costs, and necessary funds for when they are released.
