New Way Mississippi, Inc. is a nonprofit organization that offers temporary services to formerly incarcerated individuals and those recovering from chemical dependence. Their mission is to improve the community and foster successful reentry into the community. They also provide support for those experiencing negative social and/or economic impacts. New Way Mississippi focuses on treatment rather than incarceration because they believe that many crimes are rooted in chemical dependence and/or untreated mental illness. The organization actively advocates for the rights of returning citizens. They also provide access to a food pantry, transitional housing, job development and training. The goal for all participants is to secure permanent employment and break the cycle of incarceration. Treatment and recovery services are available to returning citizens and those experiencing a housing emergency. They also provide targeted services for youth who are at-risk of incarceration or homelessness.
