Paradise Independent Living (PIL) is a community based nonprofit offering mental health awareness to underserved minority communities and providing better education, skilled employment, housing options and other resources. PIL's mission is to help reduce recidivism, which usually results in homelessness. They focus on mild to moderate mental disabilities by offering services for adults with mental illness through group homes. PIL also offers short or long-term transitional halfway housing options with daily healthy meals, virtual case management services, second-chance felon-friendly jobs and a variety of in-house education with assistance from a trained mentor. PIL's Texas-registered nonprofit ALLVETSCOUNT (AVC) focuses on mental health, incarceration and homelessness among the veteran community. AVC's mission is to offer empathy, love and supportive resources to misplaced veterans or families in the hope of helping reduce suicide and veterans' incarcerations which may be due to mild to moderate mental health concerns. AVC offers secure safe housing options, mentorship, virtual counseling, access to employment programs, business opportunities, and skilled computer training.
